KULA SEKHARA ALWAR - INCARNATION OF SRI KAUSTHUBHAM

This Alwar was a very powerful king of Cheranadu (Kerala). He married daughter of Pandya raja and conquered many kingdoms around. However Emberuman Lord Srimannarayana wanted the Alwar to lead high spiritual life. As a result one day Kula Sekhara felt disgusted with all his achievements and felt sorry for those whom he laid in war. He made up his mind to lead a life that is useful to others and spread VISHNU bhakti. He used to listen to yogis and vishnu bhaktas on stories of RAMAYANA and BHAGAVATHAM. Once a yogi was narrating the story of Rama, who was to fight demons. Kulasekhara was so deeply immersed that he ordered all his troops to be ready and help Rama. Actually the war between Rama and demons happened ages back and Rama won the demons. Here we should note KULASEKHAR's Bhakthi and attachment was so much that he was unaware of time. Later the yogi narrated the triumph of Rama and our Alwar became comfortable

KULASEKHARA PUT HIS HAND in SNAKE POT for Bhagavatha Vaishnavas.
As the king was forcing to go to SRIRANGAM every day, the minister had a problem in hand - how to retain the able king within CHERANADU. They thought by telling him that some Srivaishnavas were culprits and thieves, KULASEKHARA would have second thoughts on Vishnu BHAKTI. The minister planned a theft case on some renowned vaishnavas in the kingdom. KULASEKHARA asked for an earthen POT and put few poisonous snakes in that. Ministers obeyed him. He said if the VISHNU BHAKTAS were culprits the SNAKES would bite him and PUT his hand into the POT. Surprisingly no snake bit his hand. There after the ministers never attempted to change KULASEKHARA.
