RAMANUJA AT SRIRANGAM

After Tiru Kkotiyur Nambi embraced RAMANUJA as Emberumanar, still Ramanuja had to know the meaning of Charama Sloki. A few days passed and Ramanuja requested for the same. But Nambi said he will not tell as he is concerned more to others. Ramanuja pleaded and asked whether he could give the meaning to Kuresan and Daasarathi only. Nambi did not want to dilute the ARTHI test before giving the meaning. He took promise from RAMANUJA, that he will not divulge the meaning unless he tests the ARTHI (Craving) of any one. After Ramanuja pledged on the lotus feet of Gosti Poorna (Tiru kkottiyur Nambi), he revealed the secrets. Ramanuja enjoyed the fruits of the meaning.

All three Ramanuja, Kuresan and Daasarati left to Srirangam. A few days passed and Kuresan requested to Ramanuja to know the meanings. But Ramanuja explained his promise and asked him to do ONE month upavasam without effecting the daily sevai of acharya. Kuresan did the Maasa vratham, Ramanuja is convinced about the disciple's devotion and revealed the meaning of Charama sloki. Immediately Mudal andan Daasaradhi came to Ramanuja for the lessons.

Ramanuja told Mudal adnvan to go back to Tirukkotiyur Nambi and report he has not revealed meanings. Nambi remembered the dialogue with Ramanuja. There are three egos - Vidya, Dhanam and Kulam (Education, Money and caste). They have to be zeroed before further knowledge. Nambi explained Daasarathi, Ramanuja is only testing him for the three egos. However he is in favour of Daasarathi only.

Dasarathi returned to Srirangam to Ramnauja and pleaded once again.

Periya Nambi's daughter Atthullayamma is married. Those days servants used to accompany the bride to in-laws house. But Periya nambi could not efford to send maids with his daughter. As a result Atthullayamma had more work load. Ramanuja knew this problem and asked Dasarathi to he help Atthullayamma. Daasarathi went as a servant to Atthullayamma's in-law' s house. He did house work like bringing water, cleaning, cooking. One day few scholars came to in-laws house and started discussion . While discussions are on, Daasaradhi intervened and corrected few wrong notions. This put in-law s of Atthullayamm in embarassig position, as they are using the sevices of a Great Vedanthic scholar for mean jobs. This rectified entire situation and Atthullayamma had happy life at in laws place.

Bhagavad ramanuj came to know every thing and thus convinced Daasaradhi had conquered all the three madhams (egos) and gave manthropadesam to him.

Periya Nambi advised RAMANUJA to learn PAASURAMS from Tiruva Ranga pperumal Arayar, who is son of Yamunacharya and is also melodious singer singing paasurams at Koil. Ramanuja was very glad to learn them quick

YATHI RAJA learnt all the paasurams from Arayar. Periya Nambi. was pleased and the skill level and performance of Ramanuja. He asked whether Ramanuja is further interested and can devote time for knowing the inner meanings of the paasurams. Ramanuja always had quest for more knowledge and he readily agreed to go to TIRU MAALAI ANDAN (Maladhara).. However Ramanuja was critical on certian meanings. This made Maladhara a bit angry and stopped telling Ramanuja. Bhagavan felt desperate. A few days later Periyanambi visited Maaladhara and enquired on Ramanuja's progress. After learnig the classes stopped for Ramanujs, Periyanambi took him to Gosti Poorna. All three reviewed Ramanuja interpretations and found them better. Gosti Poorna revealed Ramanuja is a divined soul. He already knows things, but learnig on GURUMAKHATHA (though a learned teacher).
